Leader Election gRPC Service (Go)
A distributed leader election service implementation with two modes:
- Single Server Mode: In-memory storage with TTL expiration
- Distributed Mode: Multiple servers sharing state via gRPC peer communication

Quick Start
Option 1: Single Server Mode (Simple)

Distributed Architecture
The distributed version implements a gossip-based leader election where:
Peer Discovery & Communication
- Servers register with each other as peers
- New servers join by connecting to any existing server
- Automatic peer discovery through existing connections
State Synchronization
- Periodic Sync: Every 10 seconds, servers exchange leader state
- Event-Based Sync: Immediate notification on leadership changes
- Conflict Resolution: Latest timestamp wins, server ID as tiebreaker
Health Monitoring
- Heartbeat System: Servers ping each other every 5 seconds
- Failure Detection: Detect when peer servers become unavailable
- Automatic Cleanup: Remove stale leadership when servers fail

How Leadership Works
Single Server Mode
- Try Become Leader: Atomic claim with TTL using Go timers
- Heartbeat Extension: Refresh TTL to maintain leadership
- Auto-Expiration: Leadership expires automatically if heartbeats stop
Distributed Mode
- Consensus: Any server can elect a leader, others sync the decision
- State Replication: All servers maintain consistent leader state
- Conflict Resolution:
- Latest election timestamp wins
- Server ID breaks ties for simultaneous elections
- Periodic sync ensures eventual consistency
State Synchronization Example
Server 1: Node-A elected at 10:00:15 by Server-1
Server 2: Node-B elected at 10:00:16 by Server-2 ← Wins (newer)
Server 3: Node-B elected at 10:00:16 by Server-2 ← Synced
Result: All servers agree Node-B is the leader
